How I Started

While employed at Bed Bath & Beyond’s corporate e-commerce department, I was offered the unique opportunity to shadow some of the company’s user experience (UX) designers through their process.  I was allowed to work hands on with them on my own project for one of the store’s website landing pages.

Personas

One of the first things that the UX team started me out with was an in depth look into the different personals who would be shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond as a whole.

Eventually I narrowed down my research into a single persona.  Discovering that one person can fall into any category of persona, I created a customer journey showing how bed bath & Beyond can provide for the customer through all stages of life.

The User Flow

This is where I learned to do a user flow.  Sitting with the team in a group setting they led me through how they create a user flow and what it means to the developers that put our designs into production.  They then allowed me to take a crack at it myself.

Wireframing

In the same way that I was taught to do user flows, the team began to teach me about wireframing.  Then I began to create my own wireframe for my new design

My Final Idea

I was able to create on my own a rendering of some of the ideas I had into a high fidelity wireframe.
